Transition

Kal’chev’s latest cycle offers us his creative answer in several (logical) directions. The first is the expansion, the expansion of the universe as suggested by the genius Stephen Hawking many years ago – like a shuttlecock. If at the top of that “ball” was the zero point of matter and the universe, that is, (suppose) that “genesis” of the artist, now that boiling of Kal’chev is slowly stabilizing and symmetrically and conqueringly spreading upwards through sequences and multiplications of some new worlds/protogalaxies, known and unknown, near and far galactic (and pictorial) systems, compatible and/or antagonistic. It is, secondly, that “wave function of the universe” through which smaller calm wholes emerge – in Kal’chev a whole new pictorial universe. Each work is now a minimalist world in itself, certainly part of the whole but with its own autonomous and specific structure, narrative and organization of “space”. And further, in these works, as well as in Hawking’s thesis, as if the past, the present and the future are contained at the same time; there is almost nothing at the starting point, but with the growth of entropy from the bottom to the top, time actually begins!
This phase of his – or cycle, as you like – now systematically conquers the boundless space, no longer self-decomposing but carefully building and spreading, the familiar “elements” that reinforce the plastic component of the work (including the insertion of favorite metal balls like some shiny moons satellites in our distant worlds!), and is emphasized by the previously affirmed meaning of the triangle, the cross … their omnipresence in Kal’chev’s universe.
